Jobs in a management consultancy is very difficult 

The term management consultancy in general means, like already indicated by its name, the consultancy or consulting of a company in different areas. Since the persons working in a management consultancy provide a service at the customer, it is a service company or individual service provider usually working as a freelancer. In Germany, a freelancer offering a management consultancy is not subject to the Trade, Commerce and Industry Regulation Act, but according to § 18 (1) EStG (Income Tax Act) belongs to catalogue professions like for instance doctors, lawyers, translators and others. As a rule, in the management consultancy, there work trained and state certified business economists, but there are also some “black sheeps”, carrying out their job under the status of a management consultancy, but being hidden busy for an insurance company or similar and trying to distribute their services to the client or the company. Considering the training as a job in the sector ofmanagement consultancy from the academic point of view, the management consultant to-be is required to prove his economic or other studies at university (here often mathematics, physics, psychology and medicine) together with additional business administration studies. Furthermore, three years professional experience or working as a Junior Consultant in a management consultancy company are required. In the management consultancy, there often work career changers as well, having achieved their authorization for a management consultancy thanks to the long-standing professional experience in their special field. A management consultant, working as a consultant for 150 days in the year and being able to present having participated in a further training for at least 30 hours per year, is considered to be mainly working in the management consultancy. In order to stand out against the “black sheeps” within this trade, many people working in the management consultancy submit to a “Code of Ethics“ (professional and honor code, and thereby submitting to the basics of independency, objectiveness, competence and confidence within the area of management consultancy.
